While Selam Ride Uganda primarily operates in Uganda, we are committed to respecting the privacy rights of all users, including those in the European Union and European Economic Area (EU/EEA) to whom the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies.

1. GDPR Rights for EU/EEA Residents

If you are located in the EU/EEA, you have the following rights under GDPR:

  • Right of Access (Article 15): Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you
  • Right to Rectification (Article 16): Correct inaccurate personal data
  • Right to Erasure (Article 17): Request deletion of your personal data
  • Right to Restrict Processing (Article 18): Limit how we use your data
  • Right to Data Portability (Article 20): Receive your data in a portable format
  • Right to Object (Article 21): Object to certain types of processing
  • Rights related to automated decision-making (Article 22): Not be subject to solely automated decisions with legal effects

2. Legal Basis for Processing (EU/EEA)

  • Performance of Contract: Processing your data to provide ride and delivery services
  • Legitimate Interests: Safety, fraud prevention, analytics
  • Legal Obligation: Compliance with applicable laws
  • Consent: Marketing communications (withdrawable at any time)

3. International Data Transfers

If we transfer your data outside Uganda/EEA, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place (Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms).

4. How to Exercise Your Rights

We respond to all verifiable requests within 30 days.

5. Supervisory Authority

If you are in the EU/EEA and believe we have not handled your data correctly, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.
